What To Do During Quarantine

May 05, 2020

Now that your yard looks better than it has in years, the garage is finally cleaned out, and you have stocked up on toilet paper, why not consider finally organizing your financial life? We can help by setting up your personal financial website where you can sync all of your financial data in one place. Here are a couple of good ideas to get started:

  1. Organize all of your financial accounts and points of contact. This can also include having a reference document to list where all important documents are stored, such as wills, warranty information, car titles.
  2. Review automatic bills such as your cell phone or cable/internet bill to look for unnecessary fees or services. It might also be helpful to look at all monthly subscriptions to ensure you are paying for what you are actually using and consider canceling subscriptions you no longer need.
  3. Make sure your beneficiaries are up to date on all financial accounts and life insurance.
  4. If you have not yet created an account with Social Security use this time quarantined at home to create an account at ssa.gov to get your personalized retirement benefit estimate.
  5. Check your credit. As part of your overall financial health check you may want to request your annual free copy of your credit report at annualcreditreport.com
